usb to serial adaptor

hi everybody please help me my dbox is stuck LD,it is not booting looks like its been crupted image,iv dun 2 boxes before on my laptop with NUL modem cable on my laptop,the laptop has a serial port but my laptop not working anymore i bought a new laptop,it has no serial port on it,i bought a usb to serial convertor lead with driver,on propterties they show serial lead convertor on COM5,i tried to put image but hav not succeded.please help me with this problem,iv tried everything i can but cannot get any success.please reply with your suggestions thanks

didn't work for me using the usb to serial port. I had to link it to my pc instead.
