Info comes from another forum;

i have just got off the blower to the sole distributor of the Eurovox Max about the clones.

I was informed the blue box have been cloned.

It has been cloned by some dude name Andy.

I was also told that anyone selling blue boxes is selling clones. The distributor himself is only supplying the blue boxes for those units that require a warranty replacement within 6 months. This is a like for like replacement, and is not for sale, i.e. blue boxes.

The cloned blue boxes have very thin cardboard packaging & the inside of the flip down display panel lid is not sprayed completely black like the original. It is actually still silver.

A new software will be released which will brick the cloned boxes upon firmware upgrade. Like what has happened to the starviews.

There will be hundreds of people who have purchased a blue box from ebay & will upgrade the software upon gaining knowledge of the new updates.

I'd personally stay well clear of the clones.

This info is fact.

Buy from a reliable source is my advise

ebay is a pain for fakes, when people sell you stuff that is meant to be 100% legit and it isnt and the upgrades kill it :( it's a bit unfair.

there are some still selling dodgy fake starviews.

but surley if they were going to clone the eurovox they would put it in the red box as this is the latest model and is going to sell more!!

Very simple rule of thumb here...

Offered a Blue Box MAX cheap - it'll be a B grade, reject or recon unit.

Simply buy a Red Box unit - the imaging/printing etc is higher than you might think.

'IF' someone's cloning these (along with all the other cloned units that are kicking about - S/View, DM500 etc) - then a quick check of price/box colour should be enough to set the alarm bells ringing ;)

Them that buys cheap - buys dear (as my granny used to say) ....

Out of interest has anyone actually tried the firmware on a cloned box?

Hi mate i know for a fact my Eurovox blue is 100%clown and i loded the june software 2 weeks ago and has not been affected its still running

Well if it turns out to be as good as the DM 500c clone then you have no worries m8. Most likely scare tactics from the OEM.
It will be very interesting to hear what does actually happen, as I would suggest that it is in the OEM and Distributors sole interest to slate the clones. If the cloners have replicated the hardware correctly then the OEM are not going to be able to bugger it with a firmware change. At worst case, you could simply re-flash it with an earlier image and start again.

As for comments out them that buys cheap etc, I would say yes you are right about certain products but not about DM 500c clones at least, they really rock for the money if you import 1 yourself.

?

How do you know this?
whats the giveaway on your box?
i know what we're supposed to be looking out for, but as you say you have a clone i'd appreciate it from the horses mouth.

Hmm - I agree there is a 100% clown around....

this thread should be removed the blueboxes on ebay are old stock some guy from manchester had to sell off quickly to get cash ,eurovox has not been cloned ,all we have is a few newbies saying there box has failed after new firmware loaded ,don't you think the forums would be buzzing with respected members confirming the same problem ?
one of the first to cry foul sent me his serial nuber and it was made dec 06 and is an offical serial number, there are no second grade boxes imported into the uk ,faulty boxes on ebay are boxes with failed tuners ,stuck in standby or faulty audio chips.
and ensonic your granny used to say "those that buy cheap pays dear"
alex

clone pictures

found these on another site but like others,im still not 100% that clones exist even though there is a big difference in the boxes

Hmmm ... I wonder 'given there are no clones' - who could possibly have taken the time and effort to recase the genuine MAX, re-written the latest flash images and be bothered coding software which identified the cheap fakes without the genuine 'x chip' to post the message shown above...

Bottom line - the MAX is a genuine product with decent support. You buy a cheap fake you'll get stung.

Anyone looking for Cialis, Viagra or Rolex....

I've got some contacts which e-mailed me over 400 times recently... lol :)

Seriously - don't buy cheap MAX - the £20 save is a very very quick way to get your £80/£90/£99 etc bargain bust very quickly - these guys know exactly what they're doing ;)

x-chip - LOL

you mean clones have different data in the eeprom i suppose.

incidentally the one i have uses a psu that dont match either of the pictures above.

LOL - 'x' being used to signify a variable value m8 ;)
