unbricking psp

my brother inlaw has a console repair shop he has had2 psp's sent in which customers said needed a back light. he says they turn on as the green light comes on but thats it nothing else even with new lights fitted.

does that mean that he has probably had bricked psp's sent if so is there anyway to unbrick other than changing the mobo?

AFAIK the only way to do this would to use an Undiluted Platinum chip...Solder the chip to the board ..Flash a new firmware and then unsolder UP chip....
