TopUpTV have just launched a new "pay as you go" service:

http://www.topuptvpayasyougo.com/

There is no £20 connection charge or credit check / direct debit, you just buy a one week smartcard in the supermarket for £10.

Not sure how it's going to work yet but it could be an interesting new angle of attack...

Mabey someone could try to hack it. Hopefully someone find a bug in one of them and let everyone make their own cards...possibility?

isnt this kinda like Xtraview, but with more broadcasted hours and a bit more expensive?

Yeah, they probably realised that any MHEG 'encryption' will be hacked, so went smartcard based.

But does this mean the end of the keygen? RedHot might start selling cards in shops, not sure about tesco, but other people might use tutv's pay-as-you-go / pay-per-view system.

Actually, sounds like they might of done some good-pay per view movie channels?

i contacted TUTV and asked about a movie service and the responce was their is currently no thoughts being put into it at this moment in time.

jeez ... price is OTT isn't it ...

may as well go for the month ... work out cheaper in the long run ?

i think red hot might loose a few viewers if they had to go into a shop and ask for a red hot tv card.

i would never pay for it anyway, it's shite.!

Not the channels fault the goverment are the one's who say your only allowed the soft stuff

£10 seems to be rather a lot of money for what you get - but maybe for Christmas it will be a nice gift - there must be a way of cloning cards im sure

Depends on how often you watch it, as its non-consecutive? But yes, if you watch more than one day a week, it'd be cheaper.

Now what would Digi-world users intertest be? It depends on how the card is used up? If you could buy a card and stop it expiring you get "TUTV for a one off fee" ... LOL

It will be interesting to see how it works (might need to dig out the old phoenix interface)

Maybe it'll somehow work using the mobile e-top up system. otherwise It'll be expensive for them to try and get up and running. Sending a machine to every suppermarket, retraining staff. These things cost cash TUTV don't appea to have. Plus £2 a day or £7.99 a month doesn;t work out

Does anyone know when this ( or even if its true) is going to happen I have not seen any news for it anywere....

Maybe tutv send out a signal to deduct 1 day from the card at a certain time...

If it is, and we knew thge time, just take the card out while the signal is transmitted...

Possibility?

A Better option would be to have a blocker. That way it could read the card but not write to it.

People who subbed to TUTV could get a free month by using a blocker if they cancelled after the card was updated (as it would give a months viewing)
