TomTom Map updates

Hi, I bought a TomTom 520 recently and now I got an e-mail from TomTom asking me to buy and update new map. what will happen if I dont update ? will my 520 still work? How often do you have to update ? Its all new to me so thanks in advance if you could answer these questions. Kind regards Ashes

u dont have to update m8
and how recently did u buy it because they have a code in that guarntees the latest map dont remember how long that lasts
but if it is recent u still have map share just install or download tomtom home
this lets u map share download gps fixes voices all kinds
have a go

It usually 1 years free map updates.

I bought a TomTom One earlier this year. The free map update was 30 days which you need to do through TomTom Home. Mapshare updates are then good for 12 months.
