Hi. I got this TM500 Super delivered a few days ago and it has been experiencing hardware (in my opinion) issues. As you will see from the video below, once I tap on the box it restarts or turns off. connectors etc are all fine, triple checked them with other units as well. Also, it's getting no sat signal at all.

From these video clips I took, doesn't appear clear that it's a hardware fault? I tried to contact Technomate directly and they are suggesting that I might have loaded wrong firmware and to try serial download. Same with the seller of this unit. In the clips, the box is running software as it came. I don't want to mess with firmware since the actual box is pretty unstable, that would create more issues right?

Please comment!!!

Definitely looks like hardware, dont see how firmware upgrade is going to resovle that issue.
Send Technomate and the seller you bought the box from a link to that video they change their mind after watching that.

Who said that she doesn't  I told her, it's the tradeoff for watching her favorite sat channels in surround and HD movies.

Thanks for the replies, I've let technomate and seller know about this and I'll post their replies as well.

Well the video did its job. :) The seller recommended to take it apart and check the connectors inside, just in case something got loose, and since the box doesnt have a warranty sticker like the DM.

Connectors are fine although I believe I've traced the problem to be around/below the big transformer PCB. I can tap on the motherboard and the box runs fine, once I slightly press the power supply unit it does what it does. Tomorrow I will remove the PSU and reflow it from below, hopefully it will cure it, else I'm looking for a new psu I guess.

Mate, I would return it for a new one if it's still under warranty. If it's faulty it's faulty. If you start messing about with it, your warranty is gone. Send it back to the seller or return it to Technomate.

M8, if you've just bought it and its faulty insist on a replacement! Did you buy on ebay? If so put in a paypal claim if seller refuses to replace.

the 500super has only been available about 7 weeks, so if its like that, return it m8

the seller will have NO problems getting it replaced or refunded by technomate

Dont bother messing with internal parts, reflowing the PSU etc...it's still in warranty get it replaced.
Messing with internals reflows etc..will most likely void your warranty especially if it goes wrong.
I would only bother with a DIY job if the item wasnt under warranty anymore.

PERCUSSIVE MAINTENANCE.
The fine art of whacking the crap out of an electronic device to get it to work again.

got that in an email today, thought it was appropriate for here.. lol

JUST A SIDE NOTE, next time you do a vid double check the vid afterwards,

i dont want to see a reflection in the tv of you in a vest and what looks like your grundies lol.

:proud:

lol bloody glossy plasma, was with the gym clothes, should had put a white background or something :p

I'm not going to bother with the unit anymore, the seller asked me to do that just in case something was loose inside but apparently it's not. It will cost me 40 euro to send it back to UK, so if it was a simple fix then no harm saving the cash.

Yes it's from ebay, although bought dozens of TM units this is the first time this happens. The seller has over 18000 feedback, they seem pretty reliable, they even recommended posting on this very forum for more support. linky here with seller and box

Try getting this unit from here, they want around 250 euro!!

I got two TM500 from them, received them through DHL, one was fine other was not. I don't blame them for not noticing it since when they tested it (if indeed they did) it could had just fired up properly.

I'll have them send me a new PSU, not going to mess more, if it works then all ok, if not, then I'm sending it back and claiming through paypal, not the first time and thankfully never had an issue getting funds back.
