Me too have not bought deicer in donkeys years

I've no plastic bags though Tesco dont deliver in them now, everything else comes in plastic, even flipping apples but no carrier bags.

will try a zip lock freezer bag

I just use a 2kw fan heater on back seat of car and have breakfast and when ready to leave ice is gone on all windows and inside of car is warmer.
If you know frost is coming one can use a frost shield on windscreen + would say with freezing temps i will be using my mobil screenwash protection neat -30 and does not freeze on screen.
