Hi all,
I recently lost my Front Row services so like everyone else I have searched everywhere and everyway to try to get them back (even though I never got to watch them).
Anyway I have come to the conclusion that despite the rumours that it is possible, it isn't.
The teleport service will work like this:
The teleport user will select his/hers disired movie. This will send a signal to the telewest server which will then start to stream it to the specefic IP address and or viewing card number. It will definately be locked to the specefic viewing card as they will need the proof that the customer has infact received it. If the customer has the new PVR I presume the film will be downloaded to the harddrive. If not it will be just like watching a movie clip online, hence it will be streamed. So it will not be sent through a transponder it will be downloaded over the internet. Therefore the only way to get the film/file will be to access the individual cable box. A bit like hacking into someones home network.
Where as Front Row was sent to every digital box and could be accessed by entering a pin number which basicly told the box to decode it.
It may be possible to access the service with a chipped telewest box. But every time you comunicate you run the risk of your box getting zapped and or possibly getting caught and prosecuted.
Anyway this isn't gospal, its simply the conclusion I have come to after a couple of days of searching around.
