Taxi fares

You wanna try using taxis in Aberdeen, if you get in a taxi at the airport and only travel within the airport area the minimum charge is £10. Upside is you will not get a taxi that doesnt have leather seats. Aberdeen has just about the most expensive taxis in the world in my opinion.

If I get a cab from Dundee City centre to my house (About 3 miles) I get charged between £7 & £8.

i'm a taxi driver it seems about right remember fuel last year was about 90 odd pence look at it now you cannot work for peanuts the thing that does me people moan about fares etc. wait 1 min. you go out for a drink in town and spend maybe 3.50 4.00 quid on a drink when you can get the same drink outa supermarkets for maybe a pound sorry to rant but next time you go too the bar complain about the price of beer and see what response you get, taxi drivers pay alot out insurance 2000 grand a year operators fees 5500 a year plus your car rental tax, fuel, and also national insurence and tax so next time you get a taxi just remember this thanks

As a taxi driver for 5 years i agree, 15 quid for 10 miles is cheap. Don't see what the fuss is about. You forget that some councils require a certain amount of wheelchair accessible vehicles which have slightly bigger engines. So that crap posted about 10 miles for a quid is complete rubbish!

nahh, ballocks man, forget all that, how much does it cost you to drive 10 miles mate ??? ffs, are you driving a 10.0 litre engine jet car, ilmfao, lol, 15quid for 10 miles ?? i drive a vauxhall Sri model and i can assure you that it only costs about £1quid for ten miles with the current high fuel prices. (maybe even less)

I get about 55 miles to £10 in a 1.6 escort...! its not all about the cost of fuel though is it, they have to earn a wage, the controller has to be paid, the radios have to be leased.. the driver has to pay a % of his fares and a fee per job to the company... need i go on.
As said before, dont like it... walk lol !

£8-£11 a year or so ago.....work it out in 6months Diesel has gone up around 30p a litre(£1.35 a gallon) plus look at all the other costs rising - They have to make a living.....You wouldn't go to work for nothing would you??

so you get 55 miles for 10quid in a 1.6 escort, hahahahhaha, either your talking shite mate or youve not got a clue about how many miles on average you get from a 1.6 car engine, must be summit up with your car mate, you should maybe get about 40 miles to the gallon in that car if you drive it properley, its what, £5quid for a gallon, which would = about 80 - 100 miles , so there must be summit drasticly wrong with your car, lol

I smell BS mate total bs. My o0ld 1,6 Escort was about that, and that was years ago, you will struggle to get 8 miles in that!!

Even it it did just cost £1 to do 10 miles you have to multiply that by 2 because a taxi has to come back to it's home town after dropping you off, so you can make that £2 for 10 miles in your little world.

Now take the rest I have posted earlier into consideration and you will realise the guys have a hard time.

And if you must also consider that they do not get work 24/7, they can be sat around for 2-3 hours per night (between 8.30 and 11 and then 12-2.30 or so, so you have to consider the company is still paying the drivers for these dead times.

I hope the next taxi driver you get knows you from this thread and charges you £20 for a small journey. :Clap:
