swapping dvd drive

Hi
I was wondering instead of flashing new dvd drive on 360 ,could i just swap the main board of dvd rom or would i need to re-install key with new drive.

If its the same drive manufacturer ,you can swap PCB's, this contains the key and the hack.

Yup that works fine. I did it with my 1st ever fooked drive.
