swann cctv

hikvision or dahua.

every ones needs are different so best describe what exactly you are looking for. area it is going to be covering, # of cams etc..

i have a dahua ipcam and cant fault it €52. i have it recording to my NAS and can view the live feed using my enigma2 receiver. Only thing thats annoying is cant view recorded files on the receiver as they are in some CCTV video format most cameras used these days called .dav

was looking for better than 720, that why ok maybe over top the 5mp, I have 8 covering all sides looking for the same but with better quality of picture both night/day time,

But you live in Portugal Trevor, it's only the UK that doesn't check for Duty dodgers. :(
I've never been stung for Chinese imports but twice caught for US imports. I had a quick look at the system and must say it's high end for home use, only seen it for sale at Maplin which would account for a hefty price difference alone.
4k is wasted on home surveillance

Ha ha, they're terrible here for checking stuff- 22€ is the limit for duty free- joke! (I've actually forsaken a couple of things in the past as it wasn't worth the hassle of chasing up- bloody jobsworth socialists!). So I had the Oz stuff sent to a carrier in the UK, hoping to bypass that!

proberly is high I have 720, for me not good enough as only had swann, so I cant compare with any think else, there so many different ones out there what would you say then

Do you ever use the remote viewing (via smartphone) facility on you old system? If so, just wondering how good/reliable it is.

i do but it android based I have a window phone which getting rid soon as pissed off carry two phones around for remote viewing I had no issue from other country, so which of these hikvision or dahua. would you recommend that if you have one

you may not have the correct ports open for remote viewing. its very easy with the dahua i have just open one port.

If i was you start a new thread asking for CCTV recommendations. There are a lot of knowledge people on here who gave me recommendations, im sure they will do the same for you.

I dont know enough to recommend any but from what little i do know hikvision and dahua are the 2 best manufacturers out there and i would go for ip cameras that can be powered over ethernet.(POE)

tried many times with my phone, there no apps like swann link view that works on windows phone pnly ios android

yes but you dont have to use the swann app. if your cctv camera use rtsp or a similar protocol. You can view this using loads of cctv apps.

there something new there, would you able to tell me how as I tried many types of app, but I think windows phone dosent work

tbh im not at all fimilar with windows phones. but the little i do know is that there a lot less apps for them. Even if thats the case id still be shocked it there wasnt an app that could do the job for you.

best to check your cctv nvr and see what protocols it uses. if it uses rtsp you will be sorted.

True there crap for apps, but not sure about rasp, am asking around as I myself dont no
