Streaming

I'm almost there. I'm so close i can almost touch it i just can't get it to work perfect. I got my dreambox yesterday and set to work getting the streaming up and running.

Without much fuss i managed to stream from the dreambox to my pc and its almost instant which is handy. I'm having trouble streaming to my dreambox from the PC.

I can get it to stream for a few seconds but it just cuts off. VLC is left running on my pc with no errors.

Anyone else came across the same thing? Any solutions?

I'm using DW1.6 as far as i know and i am trying to stream using the enigma web interface by clicking on file. I managed to get it to open up VLC and as i said, it will stream for a few seconds but then it cuts off.

Help would be greately appreciated.

Live streaming is always a bit dodgy. Most reliable way is to configure a mount and set to record TS file to PC. Then, with VLC, open the file and watch as its still being written, you're only a few seconds behind. You also have a added benefit of being able to pause and rewind. When finished delete the TS file.

Hi Scotster,

What type of files are you trying to stream?

If you setup a mount to your shared folder, use File Mode to play the movies on the dreambox.

See here for info on how to setup a mount.

Doh!! didn't read initial post properly. You're trying to stream from PC to Dreambox. Give what Devilfish has suggested a go.

Pretty sure that only works with ts and mpg though. I've already got the mount set up and working perfectly for recording and playback etc. My problem is i have a lot of series on my media center such as scrubs that are avi and i used to watch them through my dbox regularly.

Its looking like the only semi-reliable solution i am going to have is install a neutrino image.

Are they really as bad as the rumours say when it comes to stability?

you could always convert the avi files to mpeg, easy as 123 m8.. I have a great converter I can share with you

Yeh m8, you're right! The latest neutrino images are more stable than they used to be.

Have a look here...

As always, thanks for your help mate :D

Need to look into flashing now. I had a quick read a few weeks ago and it seems you need to flash in different stages. Is this right also?

Cheers
