Streaming virmin anywhere to a smart tv

Can you stream over the virmin anywhere say live football from an ipad / iphone to a smart tv or do you need a cable ?.
I saw official lightening cables at £40 but do they work or do the cheaper compatible ones £10 work ?.
Any tips how would be handy

The lighting cable box thing is blocked by virgin, I've got one an tried it, somehow it stops it putting the iPad through the to tv when watching virgin tv anywhere.

Ah right, was the cable you bought a genuine cable ?.

Is there any other way like using screen casting smart tv apps ?, did you manage to do it ?,
I'm asking for my daughter's boyfriend so can you do it from an Android device or a fire stick from an app ?
He doesn't have a cable feed in his bedroom so he just wants to use anywhere when's sports on and stream it to a bigger bedroom tv
