Stopping services so I can FTP

I am trying to update some files via FTP and am getting an erro, I think becasue the files are in use. Any know how I can get the files across?

What image and what location are you trying to ftp them to as some parts of certain images (squashfs) are read only.

If it's error 256 then your image may have gone read only and you will have to reflash.

var/bin
var/keys

the error I get is :-

[12/07/2008 19:10:00] 553 Could not create file.
ERROR:> [12/07/2008 19:10:00] Access denied.

the error I get is :-

Should be able to delete or overwrite any file in var/k*ys
In var/bin if you are try to overwrite the emu you must make sure you have a different one running than the one you want to replace this can be done via the blue button menu.
back your service file to your pc then try and delete it on the box if it dont let you as rodboy says its gone read only and you will have to reflash it again.
