how easy is it to spoof another dvd drive to replace a drive that isnt reading disks too good?
also does the new drive have to be the same model as the one its replacing?

Telling us what drive you have and what you want to swap with would help us help you better ;)

For ease you could buy a Hitachi and swap the PCB's - it saves any messing around dumping keys and spoofing.

Although Hitachi lasers are the worst.

If you want the better drive get a sammy or BenQ (Id recommend BenQ as they will be newer usually)

The 360 Samsung and Hitachi drives use exactly the same laser. Check replacement lasers for them, it's the exact same part.

You will be hard pushed to find a BenQ on these shores for sub £45

£35 is usually the going rate for a drive.

Just buy a new laser, they are easy to fit.
