Hi, could anyone advise me what sort of hardware I'd need to split the signal from my modem to hook a dbox up in the room? Would this affect my broadband speed and TV signal if I did it?

shoudlnt really affect anything

you just need a splitter, f to coax, and cable wire,

Try this place, Very helpful on the right parts for your setup.
I did the same thing and bought an isolated 2 way splitter to prevent loss of signal. The model was VQ302LC 5 - 1000MHz.
