There is a three-way battle at the summit of the SPL table with Rangers and Celtic joining leaders Aberdeen on maximum points.

On Saturday the Dons made it two wins out of two against St Johnstone and now the Old Firm have replicated the early success of Mark McGhee's side.

Celtic got the better of St Mirren at Parkhead with a 4-0 success while Rangers secured a fine 3-0 away win over Hibernian.

Neil Lennon's Celtic did the bulk of the damage early on against St Mirren with goals after five and 23 minutes from Joe Ledley and Shaun Maloney putting the home side in cruise control. The goals continued to flow in the second half with James Forrest netting before Ki Sung-Yong added a late fourth.

In the early kick-off Rangers made it two wins from two thanks to Kenny Miller's hat-trick in a 3-0 success at Hibs. Miller helped himself to a trio of second-half goals after both Kyle Lafferty and Kevin McBride were sent off in the closing stages of the first half.

Inverness bounced back from their season-opening defeat to Celtic by securing an impressive 4-0 win over Dundee United at Tannadice. Kevin McCann's first half goal broke the deadlock before two quick-fire second half efforts from Adam Rooney and Russell Duncan put the visitors in control. Rooney's late successful penalty added the icing on a sweet cake.

Kilmarnock and Hamilton are now the only two SPL sides without a point this season after they fell to a 1-0 defeat to Motherwell at Rugby Park. Last season proved a season of struggle for Killie and their fortunes have yet to change with Nick Blackman's solitary goal giving Well the three points.
