I know they come in different shapes and sizes, but is there a recommended average speed to go over them without risking damage?

The reason i ask is, on the way to and from work i go over several (consisting of 3 different types)
I hit them at slightly different speeds depending on which type. One type i hit at 20mps which may be a bit fast? It seems to handle it ok, but a fortnight ago i hit it and snapped a suspension coil. Not sure it was on it's way out, and that was the final nail, or whether i should go a bit slower?

Lol, I'm getting right into the Duke's of Hazzard on Forces TV Sunday morning 10:25. When i was a kid i watched it specifically for the car chases and of course Daisy, but now i see the humour in JD Hogg and Rosco (what a pair of weasels lol
Seeing as they're sort of hillbilly's, was Uncle Jessie also their dad? Lol
