Sony chief Jack Tretton has moved to end rumours that Metal Gear Solid 4 is heading to the Xbox 360, claiming the title can only work on PS3 "thanks in part to Blu-ray".
Speaking at the Sony E3 press conference, Tretton told the audience that no other console could handle the technical demands of the Konami game.
"PS3 offers an experience for both gamers and developers no other console can match," Tretton said.
"Metal Gear Solid is not only exclusive on PS3, it’s only possible on PS3, thanks in part to Blu-ray."
The Sony boss then claimed that Blu-ray will help the PS3 win the console war, stating: "PS3 drove the Blu-ray format to victory and now the Blu-ray format is poised to return the favour.”
