Network Provider Sony Ericsson W800i

My mate has one of these phones and had it only a short time (over a year though). Already(and having looked myself) the screen has died. Is this a common issue with this phone and does anyone know howto, or where to get the screen replaced. Im oing to hav a bash myself but would like to know if someone has done it prevously and can give me a few pointers.
