some information xp sp3

just a quick message anybody who has or intends to do the sp3 update for their xp setup.

when you do the upgrade M$oft in their infinate wisdom switch the windows firewall back on, not a problem if you know they are going to do it

i have been looking at a problem app on one of my machine and couldn't understand why it wouldn't work, i was contemplating uninstalling sp3 to see if it would work and just flicked on network connections before i did and saw window firewall was on .....grrrrrr....turned off and app is now working again through my own firewall.

its in my sig m8 www.smoothwall.org i use the express 3 version it is open source and free from smoothwall who have corp versions too, i use an old compaq machine a p3 800 wth 2 network cards and a 20g hdd, no keyboard no mouse no mon all controlled via web browser.

it runs linux but you dont need to use it as install is all gui options and once installed everything is accessed via ie or firefox.
