Some info required from a veteran please

Been searching around for ways to overcome the whole n3 situation. So far i have been able to learn that you need rsa and boxkey (available from a few overseas sources), working cam (of which there seem to be at least 2) and then you set up the server much in the same way as the sat guys do. Does that seem correct so far?
I have no experience of the whole cs scene but am willing to read up and gain the skills required to make a nice little share for me and a few friends. The main question is, will i need anything other than the good old dm500 clone i have? (obviously i have a pc and net access) Is the server software that hard to find? And... Compared to learning how to setup and use a linux box well enough to help my pals when theres have failed, how hard is it to achieve what i am aiming to do?
Appreciate any help or pointers given, please don't think i'm trying to get spoon fed. It's not the learning that i find daunting, just the search for "learning materials" thats very frustrating.

But there are people willing and able to get this info for you if you send your box in for "investigation". This does sound a bit of a hassle though, which is why i'm seriously considering going the sat route. I see you're into that scene from a couple of your posts inthe sat section. So i've got another question for ya. My box is twin tuner dm500 clone so does sat aswell, if i get myself a motorised 80cm dish, would i need anything else to get involved in some cs?
Also, without cs, would i be able to access any foriegn sats that show the prem league footy? (main reason i watch tv) Or would i need access to a cs server even to do that? A pm would be much appreciated if there's any info that i might find helpful.
Oh and one last thing for now. Where the feck do you find people willing to give you a chance to join a cs network? I really dont wanna get involved in the whole "gift" scene if at all possible. (well not with a certain 8 legged one at least) ;)
 
Oh my days! Looking in to it further I can see that you're right. Getting the rsa etc would be a fooking nightmare. I'm gonna get me a dish package from sat-shop or similar place for around £100 and see what that gets me in terms of channels. Will now be trolling the sat section for more info and bothering the experts on there (including you Mark) for some tips.

Think i might have a problem with the sheep. Will a box of squirrels be a good enough substitute?
