Sniffing macs through a router

Hey this is proberly a dumb question but is it possible to sniff macs through a router? i have a linksys WRT54GS its a wifi router and i use a wifi usb adapter a si dont fancy trapesing my 20 foot ehternet cable downstairs in order to use it heh it owuld be cool if i could do it via wireless anyone got any ideas/tutorials? It cant be done,(also says this in the TUT) It needs to be connected directly into the computer!
