sky just been fitted

just had sky fitted from 1 of the deals on here, hd pack and all channels and free, now its all set up and running sound but the engineers havnt fitted it to my phone line, thought they had to do that to let it talk back to make sure the cards in and so on.

why didnt they do it.
 
its the customers responseability i think mate its in the contract i beleive.
 
they don't always do it, they have to for multiroom
 
my cards going straight in a 500c tonight anyway but i know iv got to plug it back into the original box and let it update its entitlements and things every now and again, just wondered why they hadnt done it, gutted iv got to have that nice new box removed though as the sky box's are great compared to a 500s, lol!
 
Iv noticed if its a one box install they wont bother connecting to a line, they will just activate the card once using a extension lead and leave it at that.

If you have multiroom then you need lines connected.

they never connected it to my phone line at all mate, not even once. not that im bothered coz like i say its going in a different box anyway but i was under the impression they would have and that it needs to stay connected, but obviously not!

Ive came accross this on another fourm with regards to Newcs, dont know the reason for it but may be worth checking with someone more knowledgeable.

"If you have been daft enough to insert your new card into your sky box and it has becomes paired with the box you need to follow these instructions bellow.
Take serial number from official receiver.
Delete first two numbers.
Then that number use Hex - Dec converter
Then you have a new number
Add 0 to the start of that number
Add this new number to newcs.xml
<boxkey>********</boxkey>"

Can card not au now with cccam 2.14, without the need to put back in original box ?
Maybe someone can shed more light on this.

Thats only a very basic tut to get your boxkey which you will need to view premium channels,

as for CCcam 2.1.4 updating,yes it still can but its considered unsafe at the moment due to what appear to be "killer" emm's being sent to the card,
so its safer to stick it back in the box every now and then :)

sorry as said before nobody here has any codes lying aroung there was one code but it has been used so many times and sky have blocked it, the only place we know of is on ebay
 
I have had sky fitted today the installer used a telephone extension cable to activate the install.I asked if i had to have another phone wire across the room to the amstrad sky box and he said it didnt need a phone line unless i wanted to order movies ect.He said that they do installs where there is no phone line at the property but its £25 extra
 
they installed mine last week and we have no land line here at all,till thurs this week when they fit the b/band in
 
I phoned sky tonight to upgrade to the full package from my basic, I was told it had to be plugged into a phone line. I told him that the room my box is on doesnt have a phone socket and my + box has never been plugged in for years!

He said I cant have it unless its plugged in, unless I have it plugged I will be fined over £500!! Isaid leave it then.. He was Right arsy aswell
 
Yeah he was a right arse! Will try again tomorrow, sod it.. It aint gettin plugged in, might connect it every now an again over night..
