I wanted to be able to run 2 computers off 1 modem ,so after looking at wirless and
routers i came across this on fleabay

got it this morning and just connected it as per diagram ,switched everything back on
WORKS A TREAT
No messing about with mac addys or stuff.
just thought i would pass it on for those who need a simple set up solution.

Be careful. If you are on cable broadband this solution will not work.
On cable only 1 ip address is allocated to 1 MAC address.
This means the first PC that the modem sees will be allowed to use the internet and any others (connected to the hub) will be blocked. The solution is a router with switch using NAT (Network Address Translation).
 
thats how we use it. it just saves haveing to keep unplugging stuff she has her ethernet plug and i have mine which is permantly plugged in but my pc is not always on.
