Signal Dropping Out

We have just had Virgin Broadband connected but the signal keeps dropping out, sometimes several times a day and varying from 5 minutes to half an hour.

A telecom engineer from another company suggested that the co-ax cable run is too long to maintain a good Db level aand this may be causing the dropouts

The length from their single cabinet to our house is in excess of 135m

Is this too long a run to maintian a good signal?
 
Bloody hell that is a long run.

However phone virgin they may be able to move you up a tap in the box to increase the signal power.
