kids often loose interest when they find the will have a tank with no fish, for 1 or 2 months first! as the tank/filter needs cycled first.
but here is one of mine

yep some of those buggers grow enormous. 12 inches from top fin to bottom fin is not unusual. the silver dollars will reach 8-10 inches. and that's body depth, not length.

Yes mate, they are Black Ghost , knife fish.

We have a pair on our tank, they are nearly blind and hunt using a self generated electrical field, like an electric eel.

They can swim backwards and forwards.
Just beware they are predators and can grow up to 12" and more.

Only feed on live or frozen food (wont eat flake).
Will eat small neon tetras and guppies as they grow.

this is my tank at the moment 2foot

i got kissing gouramas, neon(only one left),convicts, tiger bars and some other
fish i havnt a clue about and a plec

If you are looking at getting a tank, look in the local free ads and super market notice boards. There is some good kit to be had there at times.
