I had the dreaded BSY error on my Seagate st31000340as hard drive which meant that bios didn't detect it at boot up. I managed to resolve it by connecting it serially and resetting the HD o/s. So having retrieved my data I then upgraded the Firmware to SD1A as suggested which has now stopped it communicating via Sata port. So the question is has anyone got ISO for version SD81 or flash alternative so that I can return it to its original firmware at least this worked and should it fail again I know what to do. Seagate have been their usual unhelpful selves.
