Am looking at the potential of switching to using digital satellite (possibly HD).

I am looking at various potential set-ups and am not necessarily afraid of having to do a bit of messing around to get things right (though the system should be user friendly so the missus can use it). I'm assuming that I will be looking at a motorised setup.

A few questions though, where does the motor get power from? Is there a media centre PC setup that can work. Am getting a little confused between CAMs and EMUs for the hacks, is it that CAMs are paid for hacks whereas EMUs are updated through Patches?

Sorry for all the questions

if you use a diseqc motor the power is taken from the reciever, if you use a 36v motor the power is taken from a device called a v-box this converts the diseqc signal into 36v signal.

Diseqc motors are great if your dish is not in an over exposed location and you use a light dish.

the cams and emus is not far off. The cam is also an emulator but your right about it costing you money.
