Samsung Tocca Lite

Hope someone can help - my lad bought one of these off e-bay and about two monthsa fter he bought it, it started overheating when he tried to charge it and now the battery doesn't hold any charge. I bought him a replacement battery but that didn't help either. Could it be the charger at fault if it isn't an official one?

Any help greatly appreciated.
