Samsung blu ray player (BD-E5500E) problem

Would anyone be able to suggest something to try, for a fix for the above player.

Player has stopped playing discs, tried the obvious, cleaned laser lens with rubbing alcohol and a cotton bud, switched off and unplugged for a few hours, etc.

Connected it to my pc monitor and my TV with the LAN cable to see if it updates, the remote works fine, the problem is when it’s powered up the Samsung on screen menu flashes up for a split second then a blank screen (this doesn't seem right), same when you power the player for the first time, flashes up Samsung for a split second then disappears, insert a disc (tried lots of different ones) it just spins nothing on screen etc. Can’t see anything obvious (budging capacitors etc) on the main board, any suggestions appreciated. cheers.

With no disc in the player press and hold the stop button on the front of your Blu-ray player for about 8 seconds or until the front display reads 'SETUP'
But possible when cleaning lens you've altered it...

Unfortunately, the manual controls don’t work (just noticed this), It’s my daughters’ player, when I first got it, I opened it up, the manual controls (touch rather than buttons) are on the top left of the player, no display this is it

Samsung BD-F5500E 3D DivX USB DNLA Gloss White Blu-Ray Player 12-mnths Warranty | eBay

It has a short ribbon cable connecting them so I disconnected that, I didn’t try the controls before this, she tells me she has never used the manual controls. I have reconnected them a few times and they don’t work, I suspect they have never worked, can’t hold in the stop button.

When I power it up with the remote, I get “Samsung* then nothing, I don’t suppose there is a reset with the remote control?
Cheers.
