rubbish channels

and How do I watch external h/d films as mine only picks up music and photo files

You could always unplug the aerial, that'd get rid of most of the crap channels, disconnecting the Sly box should take care of the rest!

Sorry for being late with this my tv is lg42 which doesn't have on /off
cant figure where the model number is.searched all over the place but cannot find

what model is your tv.

Press Menu > Press Red Button (Customer Support) > Select Product/Service Info.

If you haven't found this information before... chances are you haven't updated the TV with latest LG Software Version either... the LG Homepage address is in the Product/Service Info.
