A mate has got a DLINK router from virmin ..and its wide open for any 1 to use her connection ...is there any way you clever fellows could tell me how she can put a password in and make it so that u need a password

thanks in advance

Just need to log into the admin page of router and set up security.

Changing the network security key on D-Link routers

1. Log in to the wireless router's administration interface. The settings required to do this can be found on the underside of the router.
2. Click Wireless Setup on the left-hand side of the screen. Look for a field labelled Network Key and enter your desired new network security key.

3. Click Save Settings and then close the router administration interface.
4. Restart any computers and devices that were connected to your wireless network. When they next attempt to connect, you should be prompted to enter your new wireless network security key.

I think its the 615 that virgin are currently supplying ?

Open you web browser and enter address, http://192.168.0.1

You should be able to logon with user name, Admin and no password

Select Manual Coifiguration

Select Administrator setting and you can change default admin password

Then from Setup menu you can select Wireless Security wizard and setup wireless security. I suggest that you use either WPA-PSK or better still WPA2

You can get all the details here,
