restoring a 78k firmware

is it easy to restore the 78k hitachi firmware to the original
as i flashed a mates ,mates drive
works fine but now the mate of my mate is saying he cant connect to xbox live at all
cheecky git do him a favor and now hes complaining

i know he aint banned from live no one is but i was gonna restore it just to prove to him that hes a muppet because hes so sure its my fault

isn't it just a case of flashing with his orig.bin?

didnt need to do a restore the kid brought me the xbox it would connect to xbox live but wouldnt update for some reason
had to format the hard drive completely enter gamer profile etc then it would update

i guess something must change when you flash the drive which interferes with previous updates or saves
