Also, can anyone please advise what the different ratings of rechargable batteries are? It is implied that some are for some products and some are for others. I thought AA batteries are AA batteries.

Rechargeable AA batteries will have an output voltage of 1.2V rather than 1.5V for standard ones.
Also there are different capacities measured in mAH or mili amps per hour.
The higher this number, the longer the battery will last before it needs recharging.

If using Nicd cells, fully discharge before charging to prevent memory effect. This isn't a problem with NiMH cells.

dude just get any i have tried both cheap and nasty and the top dog ones they all the same i get mine from places like aldi or lidl u cant go wrong two pound a pack of aa at 2500 mah hope that helps
