I've got this problem with the sound on my gf machine and it doing my head in.
Every 3 - 4 seconds it stutters. It in every application.

Anyone have any idea's???

She is using 2 speaker setting.

Audio Controller - VIA 3059
Driver version - 6.0.1.6285
Codec - ALC653

As Dutcho says, it's probably a struggling CPU, but it may also be a driver issue, there is a multitude of different Via AC97 drivers available, make sure you have the correct one.

Thanks for reply guys. Exactly what i would have said.

Def no cpu spikes tho.
It also definately the correct driver.

Oh yes I forgot to mention that it is vista Ultimate.

Gunna look round for an old sound card i think. I gotta have one somewhere.

Find a BETTER Driver..Sounds like the Driver prob to me seeing it's Vista..

sorry m8 thank for input but i am absolutely sure it the correct driver. It was same when i installed the driver off the disk, the driver that vista suggested and also the one from realteck them selves wihich was the same as the one from vista.

Have you updated to the new service pack?

As there have been issues with sound cards after the update.

MS have hotfix on updates for it.

Yes i have installed SP1 but the problem was there before sp1 came out m8, Infact it has always been there.

I think i may try an install of xp on another disk. other than that i gunna assume it hardware fault. time to go out and buy a pci one
