rack server ?

has anyone got a rack server

i want to get a small one and put it in my loft how warm will this get as i dont want to put aircon up there lol

i guess a small one for around 4 - 6 servers 1U wont need any aircon will it ?

It depends on your loft. My loft room is very cold in Winter and needs a heater so no air-con there. In Summer however, it gets like a sauner when the Sun shines. My desktop PCs survive okay but I don't know how a 1U server would cope with its small (but noisy) fan.

A 1 U or a 2 U should be ok, as you can get a 1U 6 fan rack...that will blow the wind through it.

wont it get very dusty in the loft, there again you could get the wife to go hover it out every week

if it does run hot you can expect a call from the police next winter, they use thermal cameras to find warm lofts to take peoples cannabis plants cos theyre too lazy to grow their own (probably lol) so a warm attic after the summer to them will look like a small cultivation room and theyll come to investigate

well i got a way round that stick it in ur basement

and use the vents to heat up ur house....lol
