The video on demand service for the PlayStation Portable, a joint venture between Sony and Sky, has gone live.

PSP users can sign up to Go!View on the web, buy TV shows and movies, then transfer them from the PC to the handheld device for viewing.

Packages of television content are available for monthly subscriptions ranging from £5 to £10, and additional movie and TV shows can be rented for a per-download fee.

Deals with ABC, BBC Worldwide, Disney ABC and others cover content including Lost, Desperate Housewives and Doctor Who. The number of shows on offer will grow between now and the autumn, Go!View said.

Alison Turner, general manager of the service, said: "We are working with our content providers to secure a quality range of programming and ensure that PSP owners are getting the best possible service on-the-go and on-demand."
