ps3 on firmware version 2? how do i update?

hi. jus got Minimus but havnt used ps3 for so long sat ina pile off dust. have never been online with it so its never been updated. its on firmware version 2. how do i update so i can jailbreak plz?

Stick minimus in ... power on at the back

Press Power, then very fast press and hold Eject in for about 3 seconds. If it works you will have new options to install packages etc. Install & run backup manager.
