PS3 Fat jailbreak/custom firmware access PSN

Hey,

I have a fat PS3, which i got around the first 6 months when it came out first. The firmware hasn't been updated in years so i assuming its on a pretty old firmware. Its been a while since i hacked any playstation device but i do remember with the PSP that you couldn't access the PSN if you had a custom firmware.

Before i go and research how to install a custom firmware could someone answer a few questions please.

Can a custom firmware access the PSN store to download apps?
Can i play games using the custom firmware or do i need anything else.

What i was planning on doing was setting netflix and plex up on the PS3 for the brother but i need to update to the latest firmware to access the PSN store to download and install the apps. I dont want to update as i may not be able to install a custom firmware then.

YES you can connect to the PS3 store after jailbreak.

all good so far i got netflix and Plex running on it just need to get a few games to test.

got a couple of games to run using multiman. very simple to use just install multiman, open the multiman app and then select the game.

the ps3 will reload with the game you sleceted now showing in the disc drive. select and the game like you would any other and you are ready to go.
