how can i tell which is primary port on pci sata card, would it be the one nearest to where the card is plugged in to the mother board or the furthest away one ?

using vt6421A pci card

cheers

The primary one is the port that you can only access from inside the case...It's the port that faces the front of the case mate....

Unless you got a 2 port sata card (no e-sata)

I have heard of alot of issues with the 2 port ones, they say which port is what on the card itself.

As above, 3 port cards, the one that faces the front of the case.
