Possible mistake by updating?

Wonder if anyone can help.

I'm not a seasoned modding expert but a few years ago I modded my Wii to play all my backed up discs on an external hard drive which kept things nice & tidy.

I recently bought a few discs and they wouldn't work because it wants to update. Perhaps foolishly I let it update through the normal Wii route and now the hard disc facility doesn't work. Sure enough the discs still work so its not had a fatal outcome but it would be nice to have the external hard drive back ups working.

Is there a way back / mod at this stage, help would be appreciated.

should be an easy enough fix if you have modded before,

just google "modmii" and use that to remod the console, it can up date everything too..
