Sorry in advance if I have posted this in the wrong section. I could not see anywhere I could start it so thanks in advance

Does anyone know anything about portable GPS units, we need some here for work so that when the guys go out onsite they can get the actual grid reference of where they are standing.

Can anyone recommend any, we have seen these 2.

Bump please, is there no-one with any knowledge about this. I have just been asked about it again

Dunno much about the first one, sounds like a good gadget though, but I wouldnt have though it would have anything about grid references in it, more for idiots who forget where they parked their cars.

Garmin always seem to do some good GPS gear, I've used Garmin GPS units in the past, not the one you linked to, and never been let down. Magellen also do some good gear, for hikers and the like. But as with most of these non-military GPS units they are only accurate to within about a meter.

I have also seen standard sat-nav units running Memory Map, which uses full OS Maps that have grid references, as well as ground and sealevel data. You can also use OS Opendata maps which are free to download from the OS website.

Thanks for the reply's guys, will have a look at the options today.

Guys it seems that as you have suggested it is not possible to get acuracy down to 12 digits on any if these models. They only go down to 10 digits. Are there any consumer products that can provide that level of detail other than spending millions on a military grade unit

If you really need 12 digits then I think you will end up paying a fortune.

Certainly seems like that
