playin avi files etc

thinkin of getin myself a 360 and was wondering can u connect an external hard drive via usb and play avi files directly? sorry if this is a stupid question....: big crow

no the 360 doesnt support avis at all,wmv only matey,you can do it if you convert all your avis to wmv

i dont think this is possibel yet m8 with avi files.

reason was asking was going to get an external media drive to play me files thru the tv but thort if the 360 can do it there wud be no point in buying both! ah well wud have been sweet if it did!
