picture comes and goes

Hi all
I hope you are all looking forward to a great Christmas I know I am. I am having a slight problem with by 4010,s box one only allows me to view some of the channels they all clear but the picture wont appear or its very bitty.
Box two allows to see all the channels but all the BBC channels are intermittent or bitty including the FTA
Is this due to signal strength? And if yes what can I do to bust it?
Or is there anything ells I should try

sounds like signal strength to me, either try on direct feed if you are using a splitter or failing that buy a signal booster from argos or maplins.

seconded - sounds like a signal strength problem. look in the engineer's menu; anything under 30dB is marginal. A splitter will nornally introduce a 3dB loss, so as suggested, try the feed without a splitter and see if that improves things - if so, there are boosters which will help but you need to make sure they operate in the correct frequency range.

I have tried it without the splitter both work fine
Any ideas as to what booster I should use and where in the run I should put it?
Will it be OK if its just before the splitter?
