OpenBox receiver s16 for north america setup - fta coming up scrambled

Thanks for the comments. The oldies shows are of interest.

From a technical point, my dish instructions for a fixed position tell me to set the skew to 125 (for chicago zipcode 60490) It turns the tri LNB a little to the side. Ok fine and sure enough I get signal on 110°, 119° and 129°.

I think I should be setting the skew neutral 0 and only use the center LNB with a motor for positioning. It will never be practical for me to have the triple-lnb if I want 72w, 83w, 87w, 89w (or a combination of these).

Do you think this is Correct? Skew 0 and use a motor?

Dish Network DS-1005 Dish 1000.2 Triple LNB HDTV is the dish. I wonder if the skew setting gets me 9-10 degrees per LNB, so 72, 83, 89 are within that range. Just curious. Regards john

for true fta use the dish is too small plus the wrong type lnb.
I recommend a 1meter dish and standard ku linear lnb.
The universal lnbs were bundled with some ku dishes because they are cheaper, but not needed for north american use because we have no transponders under freq 11700.
I have a motorized 80cm dish but would have preferred larger, but I got it for free so I can't complain.
I also have an old primestar 1meter fixed dish that is better but too heavy to motorize.
