Can anyone tell me if a network free phone will work with 3 ?
Kids phone broke but tried it in a open phone and it won't recognize the sim.

Depends on the model of the handset. 3 USIMS work on a different voltage to normal SIM cards. If the phone says either "insert sim" or similar, then no.
If the phone can be supplied by 3 and you have the same handset from another provider which is unlocked, then yes it should work fine (ie k800 on Voda. Unlock it and it will work fine).
