Okay guys, its time I got some help as I am getting confused on what I should and shouldnt be doing.

Objective:

Put custom firmware on a PSP Slim currently software version 3.73

Items I have access to:

Fat PSP with software 3.52 M33-4
Official Sony Memory Stick 1gb or 8gb
PC Running Windows Vista Ultimate (causes problems with Pandoras GUI??)

What I already know:

Need to make a Pandoras battery and magic memory stick
Possibly need to use disinter 3.80

The Fat PSP I have access to I done myself today by reading through countless posts and via the Unpatched GBA method, didnt know if there was an easier one but had access to all the bits mentioned so just done it worked a treat.

I have read the stickies and various posts on doing a slim, but am getting confused with what program to use first of all. I understand I should use the Fat PSP to make the Pandoras battery and magic stick and then use the Pandoras battery on my Slim PSP to update it to whatever M33 version I wanted.

Could someone just please give me a starting point please, I live mostly in the cable and sports section so can hopefully help some of you in other areas.

well i haven't tried disinter on vista but as far as i know and from the read me it should work fine on vista.

Features:
--------------
- Either a 1.50 or 3.80 Firmware "Pandora" MemStick can be created.
- Option to install the 1.50 Kernel extentions for M33-3.80 on a "Phat" PSP.
- Loading of eBoots directly or from rar files.
- Full onscreen instructions.
- All features can be used on Vista.
---------------------------------------

so first you need to download and install disinter 3.80: >>disinter 3.80<<

then you will need the required sony updates...1.50, 3.40 and 3.80 which can be downloaded from here:
>>official sony updates<<

then follow the guide by john: http://www.digitalworldz.co.uk/index.php?threads/161247/

all this is done on the fat PSP running 3.52 M33.
then insert the memory stick and the battery into the slim PSP and you should be good to flash.

Hiya bud,

You and John certainly seem to be the pair first on the scene when theres a man in need so thank you both. I have gone through johns guides before posting this so am pretty familiar with them but have never performed them so now that I know it is the right one to follow will be giving it a pop.

One question though, does it give me an option to do that eeprom thing, where later I can put the pandora back to a regular battery as its the only one I have and dont want to leave it just as a pandora well not yet anyway?

Thanks in advance for your help, your name has been duly noted and you shall not be criticised for the club you support and will always receive a reply if hovering the cable sections.

hiya bud, wish i had read this before i switched off, didnt expect anyone to reply today. but the two main boys are in town i see.

Well whilst I was away, i quickly shoved in another 500gb hard drive in the pc and put xp on it and the disinter opens up fine there.

Although I prefer to use Vista so will go hunt down that net frame work instead for vista and will be replying tomorrow after work after trying out Krytons advice and following your guide.

Talk tomorrow mate, thanks for your help and the time you took to make the guide in the first place.

Okay mate, thanks to your help everything went smooth as possible first time round.

Luckily I did install XP as Vista was still throwing a stinker, even after getting .net framework with all the latest updates etc.

Thank you John as well as that sticky guide was spot on and made everything so much easier, plus I answered my own question as when you go back in Pandora 3.xx you can convert the battery back to normal so all is great.

BIG THANK YOU GUYS, THATS ONE THING I ACHIEVED THIS WEEKEND!

Yeah it rocks init :). Im guna use disinter all the time from now on. Very easy :)

Yeah exactly, I was shocked to be honest how smooth it went. And it helps when peeps like John take the time to explain each step and then theres Kryton who provides instant links, as sometimes downloading the incorrect files or worse stillc corrupted files can cause problems.

Nevertheless me and disinter are good friends now.

glad u got it sorted m8
there is another couple of options u could have use without
changing ur battery back to normal.Despertar del Cementerio v6
http://www.digitalworldz.co.uk/index.php?threads/183523/ this will put u on the very latest firmware.and can be used with a pandora it boots to pandora menu but if u press test m33 at menu.it will boot as normal therefor play ur games as normal from the same card.

and there is psp grader which puts u on 3.90m33 which also daul boots

but now that ur on 3.80m33-5 u can now use the network update on the psp to go to the latest custom firmware (not sony)

Thanks mate, wouldnt be possible without yourself and Kryton. Just having a read through the Despertar del Cementerio v6 thread you posted, think I definitely need to try that out, thats for sure.

Interesting thing about dual boot, do you mean dual boot between two cfw, or between ofw and cfw?

Okay slightly lost on the network update, was going to get the 4.01 m33-2 installed eventually after working my way through the previous as understand you cant jump straight to it, is network update an easier method. As i normally copy the udpate to the memory stick, then run it via the psp etc.

Thanks again for your time.

daul boot means u can use ur pandora battery
as a normal one for playing games with.
the network update is top left icon on the psp when u get to 3.80m33-5
u can press that to update to latest custom firmware via wireless router

Oh, that sounds fantastic both the things you have mentioned. It would be great to have a dual boot pandora battery so will def look into that on the weekend.

In way of the network update that sounds right up my street, you just helped make a somewhat daunting task at first look like a walk in the park, thanks so much for your time. I'm sure you must have given out similar advice a thousand times so really do appreciate you taking the time to tell me as well.

Now you want to start jazzing it up a bit with some custom theme's ;) >>custom theme's<<

Hiya bud, yeah that was next on my agenda. Unfortunately dont get any time until weekends to mess about with it as working all the hours that exist as mortgage just seems to be going up and up, but will have to look through that site link as theres tons of themes and would love a custom one.
