OK one day, the next channel not available

Does anyone know why a Nokia Dbox2 should work fine one day and the next day it boots up and says 'error - channel not available'?

I know I can re-image the box, but I am more interested as to what has caused this. If anyone has encountered this problem before I would be very interested in hearing your experiences!

Does this sound like a hardware failure or something less serious??

I had the very same problem with a sagem 1x. Flashed with sportster when I received it put services.xml on and it worked fine for the first day. Next day no channels. I tried loads of different images and could not get it back. In the end I returned it to the supplier suspecting it may be a faulty tuner. I am still waiting for it to be fixed so I will let you know the outcome
