Noisey Engine

Hi guys n gals.
i got a 2002 plate 3 series
lately when i start it up, the rev counter starts to jump around a little,
and gear stick starts shaking and i get a knocking noise which can hear in the car. and the car seems to shake ever so slightly, if turn off the ignition and re start it will be ok for a little while then starts all over again

any ideas
much appricated.

sounds like coil misfire to me

got to try make it that i know what im on about.

does it happen just after it warms up slightly ?
reason ime asking as they suffer from pcv or engine breathers splitting causing weak mixture misfires
also coil packs are common as said previosly

is start engine say 1min later it will start.

maybe be an air leak ?
as after it starts the mixture weakens of as injector time gets lower (like a choke)
to bring mixture down
my bet is an air leak would try that thought on tyhe garage first
as if it were a coil it would miss from start up more or less although it is harder and needs more effort from the coil to ignite a weaker mixtutre ?
but ide first investigate temp in live data then check for leaks in inleet manifold and all the pipes and pcv (engine breather) valve

Ayt Guys was driving me car today,
the engine light popped on.
had a look in the manual it says somthing on the lines of "Exhaust Valves Deteraiting Need Replacing" could this casue me car to shake as mentioned above.
as is exhaust valve a big job
